Sengoku Nabe is a Japanese variety show parodying the Sengoku era (and later Bakumatsu & Edo era too) to ‘help’ people learn history in a more fun way. They have many programs, like a short parody dorama “Uketsuke Bar Nobu” where Nobunaga opens an Okama Bar. But since I don’t watch it, I can’t really help explaining it, sorry! ><
What I watch from Sengoku Nabe is the Music Tonight session. It’s a somewhat parody of Music Station where many people from the sengoku era appears on the show as idol groups. On the show, the ‘idol groups’ have a talk with the MC about their group backstory (and thus giving us a history lesson and interesting trivias), before proceeding to sing their song. (which gives us more trivias!)
I don’t know if you’ve seen this post of mine, but I think it’ll help giving you some idea of the show and how brilliant the parody is if you can watch niconico. If you can’t, youtube also has many sengoku nabe video too, so don’t worry! The units listed in that post are units from the 1st season only though. :O
Now into Atsumori~
Atsumori 2011 is Nobunaga to Ranmaru’s song (with Nobunaga to Ranmaru being the name of well, Oda Nobunaga & Mori Ranmaru duo), telling us about their love story. It’s one of the (if not the most) popular song of Music Tonight because they’re the greatest fujoshi bait this show offers with how both Nobunaga and Ranmaru flirst openly with each others shamelessly (at least from Nobunaga’s part. Oran is more shy to show his affection). This song has two PV version, normal version and lover’s quarrel version because Nobunaga is not really faithful to Oran. (well, there’s also another version if you count the live version, which is more like the ‘super stupidly love love version’.)
This unit is so popular with the fans to the point they decided to give them a new song, Atsumori 2013. The number 2011 & 2013 are the year where those songs were released. :D Here is the lyrics for Atsumori 2011 & Atsumori 2013 that I translated if you want to read the lyrics (and the love story between bakappuru). Hopefully that’ll answer your question…? I’m sorry I never good at explaining things!
By the way, it’s almost guaranteed 100% that you’ll succeed at dragging your friend into this wonderful (yet unfortunately not really big outside Japan) fandom if you show them Nobunaga to Ranmaru’s song first! :9
